What’s new in .NET 11?

.NET 11 brings C# 15 with union types, closed hierarchies, and several new ways to shorten code writing. Beneath the surface, the processing of asynchronous methods is changing, Zstandard compression is increasing, and JIT is speeding up. So this time it’s not just another round of performance optimizations. However, some of the innovations remain experimental, and you need to pay attention to the new minimum requirements for older hardware.

It is an STS version that will have two years of updates according to the current support rules . However, I consider something else to be the most interesting change: the language can finally express that the result of the operation is just one of several previously known options. Without a common ancestor, helper interface and a default branch that throws an exception just to be sure.
